For the fifth time in the past 6 days, Saudi Arabia has posted an announcement of four new MERS cases, bringing to 20 the number of new cases announced since last Friday.  Three of today’s announced cases are healthcare workers, exposed to a previously confirmed case.

As usual, onset dates, and other epidemiological data, is not provided.

Health Announce (4) cases of infection with HIV (Corona) new Riyadh

11/07/1434

In the framework of the epidemiological investigation and ongoing follow-up carried out by the Ministry of Health of the virus) Coruna) new strain of the Middle East's syndrome respiratory (MERS-COV), has announced the registration of four new cases of the virus in Riyadh. Initial-year-old resident (51) years, mixing with confirmed infected with HIV, and in stable condition.

The second case is a resident working in the health sector at the age of 47 years, and developed symptoms of a minor.

The third case is a resident at the age of 39 years working in the health sector and developed minor symptoms as well.

The fourth case is a resident working in the health sector at the age of 38 years, and all of them were contacts of confirmed cases, the health status is stable and thankfully.

As to why we are seeing exactly four cases announced each day, I have no idea.  It stretches credulity that exactly four cases are detected each day.

But we were looking for consistency in MERS reporting, and this is certainly consistent.

A hat tip Sharon Sanders of FluTrackers who phoned me when I foolishly strayed from my desk for an hour.
